aluCine Claimed

Latin Film & Media Arts Festival

aluCine Latin Film + Media Arts Festival for over two decades has been a key venue for cultural exchange, presenting a wide variety of innovative Latin American films made by Latino artists in Canada and abroad. Its beginnings date back to November 1993, when 39 Latin American film and video makers gathered in Toronto for the first Crossing Borders conference, showcasing more than 30 independent productions.

This event not only fostered dialogue, but also created a national network of artists interested in sharing and learning about their work. Since its official founding in 1995, aluCine highlights the narrative power of Latino stories, connecting Canadian audiences to social issues, complex identities and multicultural heritages. More than a film festival, Alucine is a space for reflection, dialogue and artistic celebration in Toronto.
